It has been a busy few weeks with articles on recycling companies failing, chips in bins, monthly residual waste collections and landfill tax.

As we predicted, recycling companies paying fixed sums to councils per tonne of recyclable waste are struggling.  The news today that Greencycle has gone into administration is worrying - we hope the staff there find alternative employment very soon:

Several articles have concentrated on "chips in bins" - thanks to the Daily Telegraph for inviting this Campaign group to submit our views:

What a brave Council Fife is!  They announce that they will introduce monthly residual waste collections later this year.  We pity the residents there and urge them to make strong representations against this move.

Landfill tax has netted a huge amount of money for the Treasury and it is us, paying through our Council tax, footing the bill:

Members continue to advise us of problems with refuse collection where they live and we are most grateful for this information.  We have an overall view of what is happening across the UK from the "service users" and it really is enlightening to hear of so much local authority spin associated with refuse collection.
