Courageous Oxford Resident Faces CourtCourageous Oxford Resident Faces Court
An Oxford resident is soon to appear in court charged with non-payment of one month's council tax. This is a stand she has taken to protest against the reduction in refuse collection to once a fortnight. Following the introduction of alternate weekly collections in Oxford there have been multiple incidences of rat infestation in her home. She is refusing to be forced to lower her personal standards of hygiene in her own home - she takes her refuse to the local tip on a weekly basis and therefore feels she is not receiving an adequate service from her local Council.
We appreciate non-payment of council tax is an offence, but we also completely understand the frustration felt and the effect this situation has on quality of life.
