Mansfield - The Great Waste Debate

Congratulations to Mansfield District Council for consulting residents on their views as to how waste and recycling should be collected:

Perhaps other Councils will follow this lead.

Following an extensive consultation (although some residents complain they did not have a copy of the relevant council magazine) we have permission to publish the results:

"In summary, the headline results are:

Q2: Are the current arrangements for the collection of household waste and recycling adequate for your household’s needs?

YES:                           1,046 (83%)

NO:                             202 (16%)

DON’T KNOW:          13 (1%)

Q3: Do you make use of the Recycling (Blue) bin?

YES:                           1,248 (99%)

NO:                             9 (1%)

DON’T KNOW:          4 (0%)

Q5: Would you prefer a weekly household (green) bin collection?

YES:                           435 (34%)

NO:                             781 (62%)

DON’T KNOW:          45 (4%)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It is fair to say that the results are a surprise to us at weeklywaste.com - experience in other boroughs suggests a larger majority in favour of weekly general waste collections, especially in summer months.

Our thanks to Robert (Mansfield Council) for asking us to contribute to the debate and for providing the results.

Wonderful to see that material is posted even though it goes against the ethos of weekly collections.
Great respect
