Pay as you Throw updateIn recent weeks Pay as you Throw - where you will be charged by weight for the rubbish you throw away - has again been on the agenda. Following the Local Election results, Downing Street apparently announced the pilot schemes would be scrapped. Now Defra has confirmed the pilots will go ahead in 5 selected boroughs next year:http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/44493/New-bin-tax-bombshell We see articles on refuse collection problems almost on a daily basis in the national press. One man has been given a fine and criminal record for over-filling his bin. Another 96 year old has been penalised for placing glass jars in the wrong bin. It is little wonder some people tell us they are too scared to recycle! Welcome to all our new members, many are realising in this recent spell of hot weather the real implications of only collecting general waste every 14/15 days. |
